A large boulder is mounted on a square base. The Bonze plaque is inscribed: "Dedicated To ~ Grand Army Of The Republic ~ By Their Auxiliary ~ Alrich Womans Relief Corps ~ No. 17 - Topeka Kansas ~ Mildred C. Buck - Pres. 1934 ~ Marian D. Rollman - Pres. 1936 ~ Ethel S. Kimmerle - Pat. Inst.".

Description:
A 3-Inch Ordnance Rifle and cheeks portion of stock is mounted on a granite base. This was restored in 1994.
The inscription on the back of the monument is: "Dedicated In Honor ~ Of Our ~ Veterans" followed by engraved plaques for all branches of the modern services.
Another granite tablet associated with this monument is inscribed with names.

GAR Memorial Building

Type: GAR Headquarters Building
Description:
This building was originally erected to house the Kansas Department of the GAR. The GAR occupied the 2nd floor of this building from 1914 until disbanding in the mid 1940's. The building then housed the Kansas State Historical Society, and now contains the offices of the Kansas Secretary of State and the Kansas Attorney General.
The cornerstones read: "Erected By The State Of ~ Kansas As A Memorial To ~ The Union Soldiers And ~ Sailors Of The War Of Rebellion - 1861-1865" and "Great Seal of The State of Kansas January 29, 1861".
Bronze plaques mounted inside the building include inscriptions: "For Flag & Country They Died & Bled ~ For Freedom & Union Their Blood Was Shed ~ This Tablet ~ Dedicated In Honor Of Our Fathers ~ The Grand Army Of The Republic ~ By The ~ Daughters Of Union Veterans ~ Of The Civil War 1861-65 ~ Jessie Henaman - Dept Pres ~ 1938", "This Tablet ~ Dedicated To The ~ Grand Army ~ Of The Republic ~ Of Kansas ~ By The ~ Kansas Womans Relief Corps ~ Auxiliary To The Grand Army ~ Of The Republic ~ May 8, 1931 ~ (GAR Badge) ~ Organized At Topeka ~ March 20, 1880 ~ State Officers ~ Mayme Coleman Carver-Pres ~ Lina C. Spake-Secy. ~ Lulu B. Clore-Treas.", and "Dedicated To ~ Union Veterans Of Civil War ~ 1861-1865 ~ By ~ Kansas Department ~ Daughters Of Union Veterans ~ Of Civil War ~ 1950".
There are additional decorations including a stained glass window of the GAR badge, dedications to veterans of other wars, busts, and portraits.

Mt Auburn Cemetery

Type: Concrete Mortar
Description:
Two concrete replicas of the Iola mortars are located in sections of the cemetery. Each is surrounded by Civil War headstones. There are no inscriptions regarding the mortars.
Most of the graves on the South section are Colored troops (U.S.C.I., U.S.C.H.A.) while those on the North section are mixed with other units.

Type: Granite Monument
Description:
A granite monument is emplaced with a flagpole. The monument is inscribed: "Soldiers Memorial ~ As A Grateful Tribute ~ To The ~ Departed Loyal Heroes ~ Of The ~ Great Civil War 1861-1865 ~ Whose bodies ~ Rest In This Cemetery ~ And Whose Service Helped Save The Union And Gave Us ~ One Country And One Flag". Below the "So" in Soldiers is inscribed: "From ~ Blue Corps ~ No 5 ~ (WRC medal) ~ W.R.C.". Below the "al" in Memorial is inscribed: "To ~ Blue Post ~ No 250 ~ (GAR medal) ~ G.A.R.".

Type: Granite Soldier Statue
Description:
Erected by Guilford G. Gage in memory of his comrades of the Shawnee county militia who were killed at the battle of the Blue, October 22, 1864. The monument, unveiled on Memorial Day, 1896, cost $10,000. There is a very large GAR plot next to the monument.
Inscriptions on the base of the monument read: "1895 ~ Erected By G.G. Gage ~ To The Memory Of ~ His Comrades Who Fell At ~ The Battle Of The Blue ~ Oct. 22, 1864 ~ By The Blood Of These Heroes, And ~ Their Compatriots, This Great ~ Republic Was Made To Live" followed by names of the fallen.
Several small plaques are located near the monument: "This Flag Pole Donated By ~ Robert & Christine Smith In ~ Memory Of Those Who Fell ~ During And After The War Of ~ Rebellion 1861 - 1865 ~ May Their Deed Be Ever ~ Remembered 2005".
"This Tree Planted ~ In Memory Of ~ Our Veterans ~ By The ~ American Legion Auxiliary ~ 1939".

Description:
A small granite boulder has a bronze plaque mounted which reads: "Erected And Dedicated ~ As A Silent Lesson In Patriotism ~ In Memory Of Those Who Fell In The War ~ For The Preservation Of The Union ~ By The Surviving Veterans Of Shawnee Co. Kansas ~ President William Howard Taft ~ Making The Dedicatory Address ~ Sept. 27, 1911". An additional plaque, at the base of the flagpole reads: "This Flagpole, A Gift Of The Thomas Jefferson ~ Chapter And The Kansas Society Of The Sons ~ Of The American Revolution, Was Dedicated By ~ Dr. John W. Henderson, President Of Washburn ~ University, On April 6, 1968 To Replace The ~ Flagpole Destroyed By The Tornado June 8, 1966".

The plaza in front of the Kansas State House has markers dedicating that area to veterans. The markers read as follows:
